UGEARS Construction 🧩 Kit: Wooden Puzzle Box Review

I have made several UGears and have always been very impressed with how perfectly they fit and work. This jewelry box is inconvenient and does not work well. I made this for my mom for Christmas and it doesn't open or close smoothly. This one just doesn't work well. I filed and waxed very carefully where there were too many moving parts.

However, as others have pointed out, this is a fun project. Functionality and operation have a few issues. The box doesn't always stay engaged with the gears, so I took a piece of toothpick that I had waxed and stuck it into the front leg ornaments (little holes in the legs) on either side to support the box. how it comes out. I also rubbed the bottom of the box it sits on. Worked like a charm and had no visual effect. Still needs a little help to open fully but runs much smoother than before.

A very fun montage project. I took the time to file down all attachment points and paint all edges. I also did some pre-reading to find out what the part's function was before it was painted or varnished. It was also important to sand any parts that were going to be painted or painted with 400 grit sandpaper. I'm happy with the UGears set and love the look. I've put together a few 3D jigsaw puzzles over the last few months. A certain dependence on them. This is by far my FAVORITE. I followed the instructions through to the T. This wooden box has the same concept as another one I just put together. Both are made by different companies I think. The instructions were fairly simple, the wax was a mini candle (oddly the wax was easier to work with in different places). Removing the pieces from the wood panels was a bit more difficult, and even after cutting the joints they still gave me trouble. Interesting project but you must read the instructions very carefully to succeed. When removing parts, insert them on either side of the circuit board and pull out slightly until free, do not force. Take your time - patience will be rewarded. After removing the part, grind the mounting burrs and wax the gears thoroughly. The quality of this particular model is on par with most of Ugears' other kits, but this is one that doesn't work very well in practice.
