Works perfectly. Very happy with this

Working from home, having a docking station that is compatible with both my work laptop and my personal laptop was extremely important. Also, the ability to work with both Windows and Mac OS was an important factor in my requirements. With this docking station I was able to successfully start both laptops (not at the same time). It is connected to 2x 22" Dell monitors and uses the laptop as an additional third screen, a wired keyboard and mouse and 2x external desktop hard drives. He met and…

Bad docking station experience

If you are planning to purchase this product for the DisplayPort features that allow you to use screen resolution settings, I do not recommend this product. I spend most of my day on conference calls and this product does neither. I use Microsoft Teams and have two 34 inch Samsung SJ55W Ultra WQHD monitors and the computers I have used with them are a Dell 7900 series workstation laptop and a Microsoft Surface Book III. Regardless of which computer I use, the screens remain black for about 5…

Full functionality with Mac OS 10.14 (Mojave)

Bought to connect my monitor and peripherals to my 2018 MacBook Pro. Firstly, it works well as a docking station. If you are using Hyperport with your Mac laptop in clamshell mode (closed), you MUST be running Mojave. I tried High Sierra first but had to leave the laptop open. This became apparent after purchase when I went to the vendor's website to troubleshoot. Second, you need to download the latest software from the Displaylink website. Third, you need to go to security and privacy…

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Everything ok

Customization: Don't do this if you're running the current macos on Big Sur. The lag on the displays is so high that there is no point in distracting the computer. It's never been that bad but now it seems to me like my computer is really stuck but only the display slowly started to crawl. My advice is to avoid it unless it's fixed by the software. I bought a very expensive version of this product from OWC for my Macbook Pro (Late 2016). This device costs a lot less money, but it also has some…

Fastest new dock installation experience

I was looking to replace my existing Strongr dock in my home office with a dock that could meet the following criteria: 2 or more HDMI ports (I've always been limited to two monitor setups that required an HDMI-to-VGA cable, and I really just wanted to find HDMI + HDMI). NO USB 2.0 ports combined with 3.0/3.1 (it annoys me how cheap manufacturers keep outdated technology (USB 2.0) up to date along with almost obsolete technology (USB 3.0)). Slim horizontal design without crowded ports. There's…

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model
