Nice blade/scabbard. The pen is cheap and free.

$18 on sale, good blade but I noticed right away that the handle has good play. I can feel it rocking back and forth against the tang, which leaves a lot to be desired for a knife like this. But the leather sheath is quite nice, and a whetstone is included. I will use it for camping and more as loss or damage is not a big loss. If you're looking for a real, durable knife, you might want to spend the extra money for something with a quality handle, but this one does the job perfectly.

Quality knife at a good price!

I recently had this knife but found time to use it after spending a few days in the desert foothills. For me, this knife is perfect in every way. Now I can tell you it came out of the box razor sharp and stayed sharp enough for days of use. Looks good, let's see how long it lasts. The knife is not big, but just right for me. Oh, it also comes with a quality case that you might not expect at a low price. I would give six stars if I could.

good knife for fixed blade hunting knife

Good knife for the price. I am not interested in artificial deer scales. And the grip feels good. It came out of the box very sharp. It should work well enough for many applications. I make custom knives. And this is my knife when I go into the forest. I always have several knives in my backpack. But I wear that on my belt. The bowl is of good quality, the stone is pleasant to the touch. It has a sharp edge and is easy to sharpen. I like the blade profile. For the money this is the best deal. I

Minor repairs were required.

Although it was an attractive knife with a nice sturdy sheath, it required little maintenance. The "Staglon" grip had a noticeable 1/16 inch wobble from front to back where it hit the forearm. Tightening the screw didn't help, and lining the lid helped little. I disassembled the grip and found that it relies on glue for a tight fit on the split stock. Someone put glue on the bottom of the blade instead of the top. Applying a small amount of Gorilla Glue to the right spots solved the problem byโ€ฆ

Good quality steel blade, poor quality handle and sheath

While it's not the worst knife I've ever owned, it does have its drawbacks. The blade is a good size and quite sharp. I received this knife in November and did not wear it until the new year. After a few months of wearing but not used more than a dozen times, the blade is already a little wobbly. It's not a full-stock knife, so that's to be expected, but I was hoping it would be a while longer before this problem started to appear. Another issue I had was that the case it came with thins outโ€ฆ

Highly recommend

Note (You will see the same/similar knife review on ELK RIDGE #ER-027). Both are wonderful! Both are well made and serve their purpose very well. UH is slightly longer. UH uses a "staglon" grip and ER says "imitation". I think both are pretty much the same BUT the winner is UH IMO. UH is read as "Tang Rat Tail Tang". So I will take the chance and say that HE is also part of the "Rat" family. UH is made of 7CR17 high carbon stainless steel, ER is just stainless steel. (At the time of writingโ€ฆ

Never again - hunting knife

I will never make the mistake of buying anything from this manufacturer again. Anyone marketing this junk as "quality product" is misleading the consumer and should be avoided. 35 years ago I had an Uncle Henry knife that was the same general shape but actually had a really strong full shaft handle and real blade. Steel with the possibility of sharpening and keeping sharpened. It turned out that the metal from which this knife is made is about the same quality as an ordinary bucket. When itโ€ฆ

Good knife for the price

Overall, despite some negative reviews, this is good value for money. It feels good in the hand. Has a nice weight. Although NOT a full stock, with proper care and use this knife can serve the owner for many years. Schrade steel is very sharp and easy to keep sharp. The handle is grooved for a comfortable grip. The sheath is well made and only worth the purchase price. It also comes with a wet stone or, when removed, room for a smaller pocket knife. Yes, there is a screw at the top of theโ€ฆ

ask yourself why - Hunting knife

I have an original Golden Spike from the 1960's. To be honest the knife wasn't very good. The initial sharpening was a little off and always lost sharpness quickly, making it an absolute monster to sharpen. I thought that was me, so I professionally sharpened it. Still couldn't do better than me. The blade is quite thick so will never cut blocky cheese or any piece of meat well in the field, which is why I always prefer other knives. I decided to get a new copy and compare. Fast forward to this
