They tend to "crack". This is the fourth pack of these wood blocks that I have purchased. I love smooth surfaces. They're not too thick and a lot more sophisticated than the standard woodcuts I've found at hobby and craft stores. They don't need to be sanded as the surface is beautiful. The skin is beautiful too. It's very soft and tends to break, but that's exactly where its charm lies.
