Great mall reader, terrible at finding cops!

This radar detector is useless. One day at work, another day I walk past three cops and it's dead quiet. Absolute waste of money! It beeps incredibly accurately in other cars and malls. So if you want that. Requires GPS locks which this device doesn't have and besides they aren't accurate and still don't work. As with Waze, they almost always returned the goods exactly, at least. Don't waste money on it!

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Expensive

Read please. This is how you save money!

I have had a detector for about a year. I thought it was working great until I got the ticket. I was so sure the cop wasn't using radar like he said on my ticket that I requested a bodycam. As you can see in the image I posted from the video, he used radar. The police officer used the stalker radar (very common) which operated on a KA frequency of 34.7 MHz. The detector never worked because it didn't even make a sound the whole time. I checked all settings after receiving my ticket. Uniden nowโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Certified according to GOLS
Cons

Constantly excited

Got up nicely. I bought an extra cable to power the rearview mirror and everything works great. On the other hand, the radar detectors NEVER went off when approaching cops or city police in my area. I understand these officers may not have had radars of their own, but I don't think they would have if they were parked in the middle of the freeway. The detector never stops detecting electric doors operating on the same frequency in KB band. The detector works on some vehicles with blind detection

Pros

  • Almost never

K-band never stops beeping

Installed and loud K-band alerts started working immediately. Disappointing, but I'm in town and he's just doing his job, right? Switched to city mode, no change. Switched to advanced mode, turned on every possible K-band clipping filter, and the beep intensity went down, but it still beeped all the time. I had no choice but to turn off the K-band detection, so now I'm oblivious to the automatic speed traps/cameras that are very common in nearby towns. I wasn't sure if this issue deserved 1 orโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Test for one year
Cons
  • Definitely bad product

The price is good, but it doesn't stick to the windshield!

I've been using the V1 for several years now but I'm tired of moving it between car and truck. At this price point, the DFR8 seemed like a good secondary option, and in some cases it offers better features than my aging V1. While I do miss the directional arrows of the V1, it's not a feature you can reasonably expect at this price point. What can reasonably be expected is that it will stick to the windshield for over 24 hours! The assembly is terrible and suckers. they suck well, they don'tโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Best
Cons
  • Update Availability

First, let me get the title straight: I defeated a bunch of laser traps by a Florida Highway Patrol officer! I was driving at 90-100 in a rented 2020 BMW X3 in the extreme left lane and passed a slower vehicle when the warning sounded. I suspect the starting sequence had subconsciously taught me the alarms, so I braked quickly but gently to 80 and then to 77 as I passed the squad car hidden behind the guard rails. I reacted before the first tone ended and by the time the DFR8 announced "laserโ€โ€ฆ

  • Wow

Can cover very long distances and sticks well to the windshield.

I've heard bad things about dual suction cup mounts like this one, but I'm surprised to say that after thoroughly cleaning the glass and using good ol' spit on the suction cups, it held up very hard. , as well as temperatures down to -20F (I'll update if it can handle the summer heat too), so of course I spent $10 on a mirror mount, expecting these little guys wouldn't keep up as well. So if you doubt the suction power, I assure you that it is very good. I hooked it up to a mirror to get powerโ€ฆ
