Works best as intended in thermometers and timers

Definitely better than old thermometers. I don't use it that often, but sometimes you need a good, accurate thermometer. It fits the bill very well. Easy to read and seems accurate.

The best little thermometer.

The battery compartment could not be opened at first. I used a knife replaced with a stripped screw. I put in new batteries and everything works great. I like the safety feature that doesn't work until you fully open the thermometer.

Good for making yogurt

I use this to make yogurt (in a conventional oven with only the heat lights on) and it works well. I think they could have included a decimal point in the reading, but it's a bit more accurate in Fahrenheit. As this unit is not designed to stay in the oven at the temperature most food is cooked at, the display will turn off after a short while which is a shame as I leave it a few hours while yogurt ferments ( only 116 F) and so I have to open the door to activate the thermometer again to check…
