Improved over Original

Bought to replace sensors from my ThermoPro. The increased thickness of the base along with the handle greatly facilitates insertion and removal. I've only used it twice so far so we'll have to wait to announce its accuracy. I noticed some inconsistent temperatures during my first smoke, but that might be due to the large roasted meats we were cooking. Time will tell, but satisfied so far

Pros
  • Easy Install
Cons
  • Speed

Good at first. Broke after several uses.

I bought this item in May 2020. They worked fine at first, but after about ten uses, the one with the rim broke down and read a constant 222 degrees. I switched to the second probe and it failed after 4 uses and reads 94 degrees at room temperature. My Fluke 72 is used daily and I have replaced a sensor in five years. These probes just don't hold up. I would not recommend this product.

Pros
  • Top marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • May damage

Worked four times but.

These gauges worked fine the first four times I used them, but last week I tried them out and found that they both read almost 40 degrees! I checked them with my independent meat thermometer, using a cup of water of known temperature, and found they were off by about 40 degrees. If I trusted them to tell me when my pork loin was done, my family would eat almost raw meat. Unacceptable!

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Modern

These styli are accurate

They replace defective styli. They are replicas, so their temperatures are constant and very accurate. The life of the probes depends on the location and the temperature of the grill. I use them often and I expect them to last about a year. A greasy fire can weld them together, twisted wires can break wires, overheated wires can destroy insulation, so there are a number of reasons for failure.

Pros
  • Large selection
Cons
  • Durable

Inaccurate and a bit painful.

Probes look very nice and professional. My old sensors work great but look torn. So I took them as a fallback. When tested, they showed that 9 degrees higher than when tested. This is a big gap in smoking meat. Also, the beads on the leash make it very difficult to go through my Weber Smokey mount's collar. It's really not an upgrade from the original probes. Heck, they're not even accurate. Let's not make that mistake again.

Pros
  • Regular price
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Works with BBQube - Meat

I bought these hoping they would work with my BBQube Tempmaster Pro and they work. One of my original probes broke so it could be replaced. They use a smaller 2.5mm plug, I have another device that uses a 3.5mm plug which is the standard headphone jack. These are 2 probes of different lengths, suitable for large cuts of meat, allowing you to measure both deep and shallow temperatures. If I break another one or one of my probes fails I will buy them again, on the verge of premature failure but…

Very good quality, worth the money for my maker project.

I will receive a small gift certificate from Revain for reviewing these products. I'm using them in a Maker project, so "easy to use" basically means they plug into the outlet as expected. Like thermistor thermal sensors in a DIY project, they require special calibration that is time consuming. But I give this five stars for two reasons. First, the build quality. They are actually better quality than I expected for the money. The resistance reading is consistent, and the look, weight, and feel…

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Reliability

Works as advertised

I had to order a set of replacement needles because the first needles I ordered were extremely inaccurate. Oddly, I tested the sensors in ice and hot water before first use. Checked OK. I like that the sensors are color coded at each end. I didn't have originals so it was always trial and error. I smoked pork ribs and expected a temperature of 225-250 degrees. After a few hours I realized the ribs were undercooked. The temperature of the dome in my hole showed 160 - very low. The meter read…
