Works reliably, but only when I start my Mac from sleep.

I am using this adapter with a 27" Apple Cinema Display Model A1316 and a 2018 Mac Mini. When I start the Mini from sleep the adapter works fine. BUT when the Mac Mini has been powered OFF, I get no PICTURES on the screen after the mini completes its boot up sequence. The screen is black. To get a picture I have to unplug the mini display cable from the adapter and then plug it back in. This will make the mini and the display "Reconnected" and I get the picture. As you can imagine it's a hassle

Pros
  • A little above
Cons
  • Minor issues

Can be used with Mac Mini 2018 but requires power

I used to have a Mac Mini (pre 2018) with built in Mini DisplayPort connected to a 24" Apple LED Cinema Display. replaces the Mac Mini I still wanted to use the display so I grabbed this adapter and just received it today. I plugged it into one of the Thunderbolt3/USB-C ports on the back of the new Mac Mini and the display is blank. I have then added a USB-C power adapter (I also have a 2016 15" MacBook Pro) and the display started working (as expected) with the power on. Disconnect the power…

Works for my Mac Cinema Display

When we were all kicked home because of the national pandemic, I got a 2019 15-inch MacBook Pro from work, so I bought a $50 adapter for my old Mac Cinema directly from Apple Display (the new version with a thinner case, no silver frame in the circle) I squinted at the laptop screen waiting for this sucker for a week, then the Apple adapter didn't even work! get around - blah blah tech stuff - and buy this one instead. So I went to Revain, ordered it here and got it IN TWO DAYS (because…

Used since 2008 to connect a Dell laptop to a Mac Cinema Display!

Hello everyone! So I got a DELL Latitude 5401 laptop from work and I wanted to hook it up to this huge 24 inch Apple monitor (since 2008 it's called the Movie Screen, looks like they don't make it anymore). Numerous problems included The Apple monitor has an old mini display port (which is pretty much legacy technology) and also has difficulty finding adapters that will properly connect to both systems. has a connection. Luckily this adapter worked for me, I was able to connect my monitor and…
