Will not fit 1998 528i

This will not fit 1998 BMW 528i as advertised. I also have a 325i and it fits there. At least that's what Revain's compatibility table says. Regardless, the tensioner is probably fine, but remember to do your due diligence when part numbers come into play.

Pros
  • Manufactured to stock dimensions for correct belt spacing and alignment
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

Does what it says on the tin and same OEM part for BMW E46

It does what it says on the tin. Don't worry, this is indeed the correct AC belt tensioner (with pulley) - part number 11 28 1 433 571 for the BMW E46 (among others). It got stuck in my 323i. However, it turned out that the pulley position was "wrong" compared to the old idler/pulley I was replacing. It wasn't until I poked around the E46Fanatics online forums (very helpful btw!) that I found out that the tab holding the tensioner together (2 holes) needed to come out. After carefully pulling…

Pros
  • Equipped with high quality Japanese NTN/NSK bearing for smooth operation and long life
Cons
  • High price

A great article can use a pin note.

Fits my BMW E46 323i. I have used URO parts in the past and have found them to be of surprisingly good quality, especially given the price. I used to install an INA part and in the box there was a note on how to remove the pin after installing the tensioner which was not included in the URO. This can be confusing for those who haven't experienced it, and it won't work if the pin is still in the hole. The pin is needed to remove the old tensioner and install the new one as you cannot access the…

Pros
  • High strength alloy or composite construction resists engine heat and vibration
Cons
  • Dull packaging
