    Falling apart, cheap feel

Epoxy glue doesn't hold the ferrorod in the plastic case. The staff is spring-loaded and flies out of the body like a projectile. The plastic cap is attached with a couple of thin plastic ties that bend easily and are more likely to break. The cap will not snap onto the body while the ferro rod is in use. It all looks cheap. It really needs an update that is of better quality. Maybe stainless steel instead of plastic.

Great work and I recommend it

Blastmatch works great. I tested it with lint from a clothes dryer and it quickly catches fire with that lint like it was covered in gas lol. I would recommend this product as a very good backup tool. It's much better than rubbing two sticks together. My only criticism was the supplier, he sent the wrong color. We ordered two orange ones as gifts but got black ones instead. All I can say is make sure if you buy this item it is made by Revain and not a third party who just wants to apologize if…

Camp Kitchen is not to be trusted

When I first saw BlastMatch I thought it was a great idea in a compact package. What could be easier? Open, push down, make a fire. Easy. In terms of features, it's pretty basic. The only design issue is the way it opens. Once you figure that out, everything will be fine as long as you don't cancel the striker. The biggest problem is the ferrosilicate material used. It is of poor quality, oxidizes and literally crumbles into dust. I believe it has a coating to stop oxidation but the first time…

Why this color? - and mod.

The product inspires, and rightly so. I would recommend this color as a transition to black which can fall out as you make your way through the bushes and never get found. I mean let's go folks. If you've spent any time in the bush in tactical conditions, you know you're not even allowed to light fires. Unless you're a pilot on the run like an old boy in Bosnia a while back. The brighter the better. However, I will put a mod on my blastmatch. Take a small piece of 550 line and core it, poke a…

BlastMatch is the best for camping and hiking

Works perfectly, have been wearing it for 15 years and my original still works. I bought one of these to teach my 10 year old granddaughter how to make an emergency fire. In the country I wear one on an old leather strap around my neck. I wouldn't want to spend an unexpected night in the woods without him. Ignore reviews that criticize the design for requiring a hard surface to press on. This is not a problem. Yes, it CAN be operated with one hand if you understand its mechanics. Some say they…

One-hand operation (requires practice): useful BACKUP

Most people are familiar with two-handed magnesium block lighter systems, which are always my favorite choices, such as the B. the Friendly Swede emergency lighter made of magnesium alloy. Blocks (3 packs), new and improved version (other systems available). BUT the main advantage of this lighter (which is the main reason for including it in my kit) over other systems is that it can be used with one hand, which is a welcome addition. However, there are a few downsides; 1. The latch can be…

    Innovative design and excellent performance.

This lighter from UST is a beast. The rod itself is about as thick and strong as fireproof steel. This increases its lifespan by giving you more fire. The cool aspect and philosophy of Blastmatch is that you can control it with one hand. This feature allows you to use your hand if needed to block the wind when lighting a fire. Simply press down on the firing pin with your thumb and press firmly on the spring steel to produce very hot sparks. Make it to the size of the pole, this thing GIVES…

Bad sparks and broken cap latch

Bought over a year ago and just disappointed. I give it 2 stars because it works; hardly. Only used it twice to make a fire. I even saw it on an amateur survival show and I think that's why amateurs used it on TV. First, the Ferro stem only sticks out 1.5 inches. It barely produces a good spark, and each time I had to press it multiple times to get enough sparks to create a flame (just like they did on TV). Another issue I had is that after a short period of wearing the plastic clasp/clasp…
