Reads only 3 inches deep

What, hey don't tell you the sensor part of the probe is in the middle of the stem. So if you planned to test the bottom temperature at a depth of 6 inches, you will get a bad reading. Otherwise a decent device.

Pros
  • Glitter
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly

Improved visibility of lawn and garden

Easy to use, ready to use. If you know the temperature of your soil, you'll know when plants can sink into the soil and fertilizer can leak out. The sooner everything is done, the better things will look from mid to late spring.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Nothing

What I needed to test, measure and verify

I use this thermometer for photography in a darkroom. It measures the temperature of my chemicals and water very accurately and quickly. I just didn't want a number. The battery always seems to be dead when I need it. Don't worry about this thermometer.

  • Worth the money

Works exactly! About temperature and humidity

I use this thermometer to measure the temperature of the air in the duct, not the temperature of the floor. I have tested its accuracy with other proven thermometers and it is accurate. Because of its position, it needs to be read from about 4-5 feet away, and the large dial is one of the reasons it was chosen for this work. It is easy to read from this distance. So it is accurate and easy to read. What else can I say?

Pros
  • Ideal for a small house
Cons
  • Weak set

Impressive sensitivity and response - excellent value for money

At first glance - it seems short - the size of the dial makes it disproportionate. But it's the size of the dial that makes this thing useful to the eye. Curiosity: there is a pipe connection on the back. I can't imagine this thing being built into something to constantly check the "ground" temperature. If it weren't there it would be easier, but it doesn't really affect it one way or the other.

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent

good value from what I can tell

I need a way to calibrate them. I have a set of BBQ pressure gauges that I calibrate to 212F of boiling water to confirm they are accurate, but they don't go that high. Used them to measure soil temperature to determine when to plant sprouts prior to germination. I don't have any crabgrass yet, well we'll see when June comes if I put it in the right time/temperature. Will update when I get a known temperature source that falls within this thermometer range. Had this laptop in the rain/sun for…

Hard soil thermometer

I am an experienced gardener and have long given up planting "Mother's Day" or X days before/after Memorial Day. this year, for weeks, all my friends as they plant by date, not country or weather. My tomatoes are bigger, stronger and thriving while my friends are still struggling to stay healthy. I strongly believe in using science and tools to help in the garden. The floor temperature sensor is one of the first tools I bought and it has paid for itself many times over.

Pros
  • Temperature and humidity
Cons
  • Only available in black

Excellent quality. commercial class.

Super quality. I didn't expect it to be such a high quality thermometer. I'll buy another one just in case, because it's just a very good thing. As soon as you see it, you understand that it is on another level, but when you hold it in your hands, it rises 3 levels. I thought it was a cheap piece of crap that I would use until it broke like most other things you buy these days. Not so. This is a legal tool. This will no doubt go on until I stupidly break it. I don't usually write reviews but I…

have a winner best at testing, measuring and validating

The Vee Gee soil thermometer gets high marks in my book. The caliber is well built and more durable than I thought it would be with a very strong and strong stock. It has a large dial and digits for easy reading (very important in my book), wide temperature range, stainless steel case, fairly sensitive, accurate and requires no calibration (see image). It will not bend or bend when pressed into the ground. I use a soil test sensor to ensure optimal conditions for lawn seeding and other lawn…
