Handheld portable refractometer for Brix (0.0 to 32.0%) measurement of sugar content in fruit, juices, soft drinks, coffee and cocoa beverages, lactic beverages, purees, soups, industrial fluids, water-soluble detergents, and aqueous film forming foams (AFFF) for fire fighting in a 10 to 30 degrees C temperature range. Automatic temperature compensation (ATC) for immediate and accurate calibration readings, regardless of ambient temperature. Ambient light illuminates the scale; no additional power source is required. Durable metal and rubber outer shell with a telescope-shaped, streamlined design (40 x 40 x 165mm), a rubber grip to guard against hand heat for accurate measurements, and a non-roll stand to protect against damage. Optical glass prism mounted in all-metal housing for quick temperature equilibrium between sample and prism.

It worked great. I bought this because I have Cornelius.

Finished Great. I bought it because I have a Cornelius slush machine. Don't just use a mushy mixture anymore. Get the right sugar level and I'm good to go.

The first impression is very nice!

So far, so good. I took some sugar water samples today to compare with my hydrometer and they all came out very close. The overall build feels solid and is very readable. I use this for brewing and there's really no problem converting Brix to SG using any of the online converters.

solid construction and high quality workmanship

It is clear why this unit is much more expensive than the lower range refractometers available. Clearer readings, brighter prism, heavy weight, solid construction and quality workmanship. A tool for professionals in the brewery or in the field. There would be 5 stars if the soft case was hard with a foam insert. However, it costs more than a lower-end tool.
