Description of Vee Gee Scientific BX 3 Refractometer: Unrivaled Precision and Advanced Technology

Handheld portable refractometer for Brix (58.0 to 92.0%) measurement of sugar content in jams, jellies, marmalades, malt, honey, and maple syrup. Manual temperature compensation and calibrated with a liquid standard using a tool-free calibration ring. Ambient light illuminates the scale; no additional power source is required. Durable metal and rubber outer shell with a telescope-shaped, streamlined design (40 x 40 x 140mm), a rubber grip to guard against hand heat for accurate measurements, and a non-roll stand to protect against damage. Optical glass prism mounted in all-metal housing for quick temperature equilibrium between sample and prism.

Easy to use for substance analysis instruments

Easy to use but due to the nature of the product requires regular calibration. This can be a little tricky if you don't have the means to properly prepare the solid solution.

Pros
  • chemical analysis instruments
Cons
  • fragile

Failed to calibrate - Refractometer

1. Adjusting spindle was very difficult to turn and the instructions said easy to turn to adjust, 2. Instrument I couldn't even calibrate as advertised but the spindle did was easier, wasn't happy with either one or the other

Pros
  • Industrial & Scientific
Cons
  • Slightly dented

Works very well. best for testing, measuring and verifying

This refractometer works very well and is accurate enough for testing honey but I was a bit surprised that it only has a Brix scale and no moisture scale. To convert to humidity, you can find a simple conversion table online.

Pros
  • Refractometer
Cons
  • Expensive
