Good for basic use Good for computers and accessories

Glad to review this product as I was in the process of backing up my family photos and videos. Now that my phone backs everything up to the cloud, I rarely store my files on a physical drive. But why not be even more secure and have one more backup. One thing I want to point out is that it says this only works on Windows operating systems. Sorry Mac users. I hooked mine up to my laptop, dumped a few GB of files and got it done in minutes. Very easy. It's not as fast as other technologies today,

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors

Nicely shaped disc but very slow write speed

This flash drive can do for simple tasks like storing music files to play in the car or transferring small office/study files between computers. However, if you regularly work with large/many files, you should look for a more powerful alternative. This drive offers a decent (for USB 2.0) read speed of 25MB/s, but its sluggish 6MB/s write speed will test your patience when copying large amounts of data onto the drive. Physically, this drive has a convenient lidless lid. Design, durable andโ€ฆ

Meh USB sticks

At first I thought that $12.87 for 32GB of storage on a flash drive is very expensive. I mean, I remember paying $10 for a 1 gigabyte flash drive a few years ago. Then I looked at the prices for comparable USB sticks and was shocked at how cheap 32 GB sticks are now. Then I also remembered that my son was two when I paid $10 for this flash drive a few years ago. Now he's 18. Then I remembered that I had aged a bit. Now I'm a bit confused. Thank you Verbatim. Anyway, this mech flash drive. It'sโ€ฆ

Useful for transferring small files

I just got a 3D printing machine and needed a small USB stick to put the files I want to print into to transfer them from my computer to a printing machine transferred to. This stick is perfect for THIS purpose. I decided to copy the entire folder to a USB stick to get an idea of the transfer time. It took about 3.5 minutes to transfer about 825MB. Not exactly lightning fast, but not really a problem for my purposes. In most cases I add 1 new file to print which takes less than 30 seconds. Iโ€ฆ

Great for my car

Many new cars these days, including the one I just bought, have ditched the CD player in favor of USB ports. So I need a drive where I can rip my CDs and play them in the car. This one works well for this purpose. It was recognized immediately on my Windows 10 computer and plays fine on my computer. Being USB 2.0 it is not lightning fast so may not be suitable for transferring very large files over time. But for transferring MP3 files, it's ok. It only took a few seconds to transfer the copiedโ€ฆ

Writes very slowly!

I am amazed that this 32GB Verbatim Ergo USB 2.0 USB Flash Drive - Black performs very poorly in this day and age of ubiquitous high speed flash drives - Black - especially when recording to USB sticks , which is around 6.57 MB/s, which I find unacceptable. Admittedly this is a USB 2.0 device and I wasn't expecting super speed but still not that slow writing when copying files to a flash drive. Something tells me that chip-on-board (COB) technology or something will improve reliability, but ifโ€ฆ

Pretty slow even for USB2

I wasn't expecting it to be a speed daemon, it says USB2 right on the box so I knew I wouldn't get the 150+MB would /s level speed I get with some of my flash drives. But even for USB2 it's too slow. By plugging a standard Sandisk drive into my USB2 port, I can hit over 40MB/s without breaking a sweat. This? Even on a USB3 port, I squeeze out just over 18MB/s reading, and it's even worse writing. That's less than half of what USB2 can pull. For the money this is a decent platform to transferโ€ฆ
