Verbatim DVD+R DL AZO 8.5 GB 8x - 10 Branded Dual Layer Recordable Discs, 5 Disc Slim Case 95311 -- SOLD: Verbatim Very good media with DOUBLE LAYER capability. It's great if you have an ISO that you need to apply to a drive that's over the usual 4.5G limit for normal drives. Make sure your DVD burner supports dual layer recording. Usually there is a DL somewhere. A conventional drive will not burn these discs. I burned an ISO copy of about 7.5 GB without any problems. I will buy again. I am…

Verbatim is the undisputed winner in 2-level archiving

Verbatim is currently the only brand I trust for 2-level archiving. They have a strong commitment to technology, particularly the stability of the emulsion on the surface of the disc. I remember trusting my generic data almost two decades ago. I checked the data after writing it and everything seemed fine. Then a few days later, DISK ERROR, TOC UNREADABLE. Thank god he screwed it up with just that one disc. So don't trust generic drugs. Well-known brands are also suspicious, above all HP, Kodak

Pros
  • High marks for support and longevity from testers
Cons
  • Hard to say

No longer available

I've always used Verbatim AZO DVD+R DL discs, but the loss in quality was downright dramatic with 20-30% of the reels falling out during the burning process. Although I initially attributed it to a bad batch I now see this as normal expectation for these drives as I have just (stupidly) ordered another roll thinking the results would be different but there are none and countless more TOC, L0 and finalizations occur as usual and appear to be even more common than before. The only good thing is…

Three DVDs didn't work.

What I like about this product is that it has a lot of space for my home videos. What I don't like is that it gave me false advertising regarding RW. RW is when I can overwrite 1000x. I received five DVDs in the box, two of which are very well recorded and the other three are not. I spoke to Mike at Verbatim Technical Support and we tried to resolve some issues but it didn't work. I would substitute the three and the options from RW. Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. I look…

Passed half of them without a single fail

I don't need to burn DVDs very often these days, but in situations where I need more space than a standard DVD(+/-)R this is ideal. As I said in the title, I've tried about half of the spindle and there hasn't been a single bad one. For me that is impressive. When I was younger (during the Napster era) I made a lot of CDs and later a lot of DVDs. I usually buy 50 pieces. It seems that out of those 50, about 10 were just bad right after the spindle, and those were quality brands (Verbatim…

My first failed batch of accessories and consumables

It's 2020 and it's clear that blank DVDs aren't as popular as they used to be. It's definitely the demise of the recordable media era. But some of us, like me, still burn a lot of optical discs, including a lot of DVD+R DL discs. For almost two decades, Verbatim has been the benchmark. Often imitated, seldom equaled and certainly never surpassed. The Verbatim DVD+R DL was and still is the most expensive product, but you always get what you pay for. Flawless burn, excellent compatibility and…
