Pretty good unit, the best in depth finders and sonars

This is my second unit. Be sure to dry the sensors. My first worked as expected. I haven't used it for over 6 months and found that I didn't dry the sensors I think. I've actually had the opportunity to compare this side by side with a stationary unit on a charter boat and the comparison was really accurate.

Does well in cold water.

Also in the description it says that the battery life is about 4 hours. I tried it in the pond, played with the gain, it worked. At the weekend we will try to spot on the ice. Probably not ideal for what we're going to use it for, if you have the cash. Cough for a real ice cold Vexilar, but if you're on a budget this should work. The pond is mostly ice and works well with a water temperature of 33Β°C. Can't wait to use it for shore fishing this summer!

Surprisingly great fish finder

This fish finder is amazing. The bottom detail is excellent, the depth is within 1ft. If you've never used a fish finder before, check out the tutorial videos on YouTube. Other models from other manufacturers are 2-3 times more expensive. I prefer real sonar images. If you need to see a cartoon fish icon, don't buy it. It's as good as a navigation sonar. Fish are bumps, bait schools are lighter bait values. I use it for carp fishing from the bank. It is accurate for medium, depth and water…

Pros

Great portable fish finder!

I really like this fish finder. I use it in canoes and it's fantastic. This is indeed exactly what I was looking for. It seems really accurate and the app is reliable. I really wish it had some sort of display function (like the photo Revain listed for it) but for the price it gets the job done. I've compared it to other handheld fish finders in this price range and the Vexilar seems to outperform all the others. My only issue is that it hits the side of the canoe when paddling, but I don't…

Ready for immediate use

What more can one say? Judging by the serial number, the device was made in 2014, sat on the shelf for 5 years and completely died. The Vexilar that was called and his technician confirmed that either the battery was dead or there was a manufacturing defect. He suggested that I send it back to the factory at my expense to have it checked and shipped back to me. This is for what a NEW ENTITY should be. Not the main topic for some reason. Lithium-ion batteries age. They only last two or three…

This little device is a great tool. First I used it for jigging.

I am a serious angler, fishing for striped bass from kayak and from shore, fly fishing and trolling for brown trout and salmon, ice fish - lake trout. This little device is a great tool. I first used it to fish lake trout through ice at a depth of 35 feet. I could see my jig (if I used a bigger jig the small ones would disappear) and watch the fish come up to check it out. When spring came I used it to tag floating salmon while trolling on the ice. Worked great, towed a few feet behind the…
