Wait for the MacOS firmware/drivers to stabilize.

** Conclusion: wait until the firmware/drivers for VT4900 have stabilized before buying ** I bought this KVM/docking station because it looked (and cost) like a high quality piece of hardware, which allows me to connect three external monitors to my MacBook Pro (Late 2020) as well as a keyboard/mouse, headphones, webcam, etc. This also allows me to easily switch the same things over to my Windows PC while sitting at the same table. . The MacBook Pro normally only supports two external monitors…

Pros
  • Power two systems with one dock. Control two different systems with one keyboard and one mouse. Use USB connections between systems.
Cons
  • Almost everything is fine

MacBook Pro, Chrome OS and Windows work fine.

This is amazing to me. I'm using Macbook Pro, Core i5 2019, Chromebox (ASUS Chromebox 4, Core i5 10th gen) and Alienware R11 Core i9 RTX 3080. Keyboard, mouse, Jabra 380 USB-C dongle and Logitech Brio camera are all working fine. Chromebox and Mac use a dock for output to the monitor, Alienware connects directly to the monitor's display port to eliminate single port lag while still using DisplayLink over a USB-C connection to the second monitor. Highly recommend if you have a newer USB-C port…

Pros
  • 100W of power per system with included USB-C cables
Cons
  • Vulgarity

It seems that it would be ideal, but.

This is not just a KVM switch. It takes over the network connection and only allows one of the connected computers to connect at a time. It would be better to just put each connected computer on a separate ethernet port. The need to install software is also problematic when you're trying to use it in a work-from-home scenario, and the company you work for restricts the installation of software that isn't in the company's catalogue is. It doesn't look like the features are really thought…

Pros
  • When connecting an HDMI display to the VT4900 KVM Dock, this output is only shown if the connected laptop has a USB-C port with DisplayPort Alternate Mode. MacBook may require separate power supply to work in clamshell mode.
Cons
  • Some issues

Breaking point for WFH with 2 USB-C computers

Best purchase I've made this year for WFH. After considering a bigger desk, more monitors and other options, I stumbled upon the VT4900 after asking "doesn't anyone make a device to connect 2 USB-C enabled PCs to one monitor?" Absolute game changer , albeit with a few twists. My setup includes a Mac Mini M1 and a 13-inch Macbook Pro, LG 4K monitor, webcam, speakers, Logitech MX dongles/mouse and an ethernet line. now everything is connected to the VT4900 and each PC sees the monitor, ethernet…

Pros
  • Easily switch between systems with dock toggle or hotkey using included software
Cons

I had to return green light for computer components

Returned because it stalled my laptop multiple times, a new HP Elitebook with Thunderbolt. Switched to CalDigit, no problems at all.

Pros
  • . Supports up to 3 4K displays via 2x DisplayPort and 1x HDMI connections. Screen configurations can be selected from a variety of options. The maximum achievable resolution is 4096x2160 at 60Hz.
Cons
  • Annoying
