Description of πŸ”Œ Optimized Cable Lacing Needle for 1/8" Cable Railings through Hollow Metal Posts by VistaView CableTec

This is a 1/8" cable lacing needle for stringing 1/8" cable through posts for cable railings. The needle is 4-1/2" long and made of brass. This reusable tool is very helpful for quickly stringing steel cable through hollow posts for railing projects. Recommended for installing 1/8" VistaView cable railing projects.

Works but could be better

The product is well made and fits the cable well. The only problem is that it's too short for my project. I am using 4 x 4 post covers for the deck railing and the cover is 4 1/2 inches wide. This needle should be at least two inches longer to make it easier to thread the cable through the holes in the frame.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Can't remember

Very useful railing tool

A lacing needle should be used when threading cable through post. The ends of a stranded cable can very easily get caught and fray. The worn end is much more difficult to thread or push through the SwiftCatch fitting. Check out our finished railings with photos in our review of the 1/8" Stainless Steel VistaView Cable Railing Kit (25 foot length with black caps).

Pros
  • Heavy Duty
Cons
  • Damaged

This only works if you have the .

This only works if you want to drill holes for wires larger than the minimum diameter that the 1/8 inch wire will go through. The holes required for a snug fit on 1/8" wire are 5/.32". The needle didn't go through the 5/32" hole so I didn't use it. I didn't see anywhere in the description that that it says it needs a hole larger than 5/32" to fit the needle through a 2" x 2" steel pin. I have a new unused needle in the original box for sale.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Expensive
