Really good plugs. suitable for audio and video accessories

These are premium connectors with good quality. I use them to make custom headphone cables. I'm using a Mogami 2893 Starquad oxygen free copper cable and had to drill it out a bit. I heat shrink them so no burrs are noticeable. I like the step at the bottom of the connector, it gives extra clearance that is sometimes needed. If someone complains about this, it means they don't know how to solder properly. I just wish I could buy them in one color rather than an assortment. All black would be…

Pros
  • Sturdy design
Cons
  • There are some nuances

They solder very easily, contrary to reviews.

Contrary to reviews, actually soldered without any problems. I used a 15 watt iron, tinned the wire and dripped solder onto the terminals. shrink about an inch and a half from 5/32 to relieve tension. I repaired 3 pairs of my studio headphones tonight. Quite a lot of dollars of equipment lying in a heap of rubbish. They seem tough, I'm sure it would take a lot of stress to break them again. AND I HAVE THREE LEFT FORKS. The best $7 spent this year.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Functionality

Must be a qualified solderer to use them.

These are designed for use with fine wire and require skill and dexterity or good fixtures for 'installation'. There are no notches or holes for the wires, you just solder to the pins on the side. The photos show nicks but the ones I received don't. Once you have attached the wires, the pins wet slightly and the soldering was successful. I melted the plastic insulator a bit but when I was done it worked and I was happy with the result. If you're unsure of your soldering skills, don't buy them.

  • One Year Trial
Cons
  • For Seniors

The naysayers are right, they are too small

While these replacement plugs "appear" to be solid and well built, they are difficult to install. Obviously, they are designed to fix inexpensive headphones. . But in order to change the connector on my MB Quarts, a wire hole had to be drilled in the cap to allow the insulated wires to pass through. Attaching and soldering the leads to the connector without anchor loops to provide a mechanical interface was also a challenge. You need a steady hand, a good eye or a magnifying glass. When using…

Does NOT provide strain relief

They look nice and elegant but functionally they are terrible. I've done Trs repairs in the past and the ground wire has always had a crimp to hold the wire's outer insulation, but this product doesn't have such a retainer. All twists and twitches of the cable occur right at the solder joints and fail SUPER FAST. I tried to insert my own ferrule into the screw shell to prevent the cable from being pulled out but not twisted. I added hot glue but with such a tight space it was almost impossible…

Pros
  • great product
Cons
  • Can I add something

Reviews make me laugh, I've been working with electronics for over 30 years and soldering all the time. I can solder this with my crappy Radio Shack thick end iron, my corrugator is missing. I don't solder as much as I did 20 years ago, but yes, lots of soldering helps, but as long as you don't wiggle too much, have a small soldering tip, and a way to hold the connector, you should be fine. People complain that they have nothing to attach the wire to. What do you expect from this price for 6…

Premium feeling! Good value for money.

I am very impressed with the quality of these plugs! Due to the many negative feedbacks, I will provide some details and photos to try to answer these users' complaints. First off, the fit and finish is pretty good. What I liked is that the plug fits into slightly recessed holes (e.g. through a phone case). In addition, the connector is very secure. At least, like most other connectors. It is easy to insert and remove, but satisfactorily "clicks" into the slot and stays there securely until…
