Niger seed goes rancid.

All I can think about is this seed has gone bad. I filled my feeder when it arrived and the finches never showed up. Usually they flock to him. Drained and filled last week, still no taker. Freshness seems to be a big issue. And now my return window is closed. ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Protection

Birds love it for birds

I bought this to put in a Nyjer seed feeder to attract goldfinches. It works great for attracting all the common finches and I've attracted some goldfinches as well. The only problem is that an open mesh feeder will quickly become stale, often requiring replacement if the birds aren't eating it fast enough.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Parcel torn on delivery

I suspect this is a Revain issue, not birdseed. I'm not a happy tourist! When I opened the box that was delivered today, the thistle seed packaging was cracked. The thistle seed fell into the box. I have to seal the crack with duct tape and then try to get out the tiny seeds that leaked out. What a waste!

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • Something else

Birds don't like it

Tried this brand for the first time. I also bought a large feeder to hold lots of these cheap seeds. I put this seed in my regular feeders and in the new larger one and nothing. The seeds were brownish and had many stalks and other debris. I went from 6-8 yellow finches every day to one that tried this and then left. Now I will order other seeds. It goes in the trash.

  • New

Goldfinch ate him. Fresh and Sealed Well

I love that the packaging company is finally rolling out reusable velcro wraps (instead of the three hard liners that most bags have). It works amazing. Easy to open and close. The seed inside was very, very fresh. In fact, I've already ordered more because more than 50 goldfinches have eaten it in just over a week. They love it! I also!. (much better than the old, probably stale stuff I buy from the big hardware stores).

Pros
  • Cool Product
Cons
  • Ugly Packaging

This is a really high quality Nyjer seed and is actually offered here.

These are really high quality Nyjer seeds and at a really great price. I'm going through a lot as I have tons of gold and purple finches. Tit and sparrows love it too. I also really appreciate a pocket that doesn't have to be cut open; It has a simple closure system that you open and then close again by zipping up. As a great additional feature, the table on the back of the bag shows which birds prefer which seeds. For a hobby ornithologist like me, this is really helpful.

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • Quality

Package came a little open, with seeds in the box

Seeds were ok, price and delivery are great. Box and 1/2 more seeds in a double bag. The bird feeder bag itself was about 3 inches open (looked like a manufacturing defect - the stitching around the plastic zipper wasn't fully attached.) No big deal, I just pulled out the whole shipping box next to the feeder to shake it all off. Bags of bird seed in a plastic tub so I didn't care if the plastic bag of seeds wasn't resealed, but for those not transplanting into a separate container this willโ€ฆ

Price up 28% in the last 9 months - delivered within 11 days

It took 11 days to receive the last pack I ordered so I had to go to my local pet food store to fill the gap to fill. In the future I will buy local and get lower prices and get it in one day. My rating reflects the seller's rampant price gouging during the epidemic. I paid $26.88 for a 20# bag in December 2019. The cost went up 17% when I bought it in March 2020 and now it's up another 7% for a 9 month total increase of 28%. Birdseed Nyjer. My only option is to buy it from another sellerโ€ฆ
