Two thumbs up like a dad -

I read other reviews before purchasing and was concerned it might not be strong enough for my 9 year old Amazon daughter (weighs 125 pounds) and her 24 inch -bike are. I don't normally write reviews but positively surprised and appreciative as a father I give these two thumbs up, they are not contrived - I don't know why another review made such an impression.

Pros
  • An absolute legend
Cons
  • Some flaws

They are strong and reliable except for equipment

They are strong and reliable except for equipment. My 9 year old assembled a bolt with a nut and lock but ripped those pieces out. I went to hardware stores looking for new parts and couldn't find a specific longer arm screw. I even went to the manufacturer's website and you basically have to buy a new kit. Not satisfied with the difficulty of replacing parts. :/

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Almost never

Resist abuse by older boys!

These photos were taken by our 100lb 8 year old son after a year of wear and tear. He was afraid to learn to ride, but he's a big kid so I needed something meaningful. The brackets are easy to assemble and do not bend. The wheel he prefers still has some profile. The other flexes a little, but both spin smoothly and I'm not afraid it will fail. Highly recommended. Quality discs made in the USA. Just buy them.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Crumpled

Note: 3/4 " frame works best for cycling

These are great training wheels. Don't buy training wheels that fix big bikes. Well they fit and they work great. If the frame is larger than 3/4" you won't be able to use the bar. Not sure if you need it. I was able to use a similar machine from a different pair of training wheels and get it to work. However, it's worth noting that you with a larger diameter frame, the design may need to change slightly.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Problems

Perfect for older kids just learning to ride!

Like some other reviews, our son is over 7 years old and still learning to ride a bike. He had some balance/coordination issues which we worked on although it was quite difficult at first and we lived in a very hilly part of Atlanta. Now that he was done we are in super flat Florida and he is 4ft 3" tall and on a 20" bike and the others we found on the Revain broke in a day. We were very discouraged. But then I found this one! They work amazing! So strong and tough, just super well built. Andโ€ฆ

Boosted my son's confidence

I bought these training wheels for a bike that was given to my son. My son is 5 years old, weighs over 75 pounds and is over 4 feet tall. Therefore, his small bike is too unstable for him. These training wheels were perfect for his needs. Unfortunately, these training wheels didn't fit the tube on my son's bike. I could adapt them to the task at hand. I trimmed the ends and secured them with heavy duty zip ties. Total time to get them by bike was about 30 minutes. As soon as I got them on theโ€ฆ

If 3/4's don't fit call Wald for 1.25 spacers

Unfortunately the 16" to 26" jockey wheel spacers don't fit my current 20" bike. Your tubes on the bike are a fewmm thicker for them.Technically, the training wheels I bought are a set of Wald 742 training wheels for 16-26 bikes can measure the diameter of your tube with a tape measure to see if it will fit, however the Wald 10252 jockey wheel kit for 16-20 wheels I believe includes spacers that will fit up to 1.25" tubes but at Will also work with 742 jockey kit wheels if needed If you callโ€ฆ

Pros

Ideal for the older beginner!

These training wheels did exactly what we needed! Because we are on a gravel road, our son learned to ride a bike a little late. He's almost eight years old and the last time we weighed him he was 96 pounds. We finally got a chance to park his bike in a place where we could teach him how to ride. Unfortunately he outgrew the bike we bought him with training wheels but luckily he inherited the bike from his cousin. Its size but without training wheels. They lasted a total of 3 days before theโ€ฆ

  • Almost everything is ok

Quality and Made in the USA are more important than ever

I'm so glad I chose these training wheels. First, I like to support small American companies if they make good products. Second, they are much stronger than any other training wheel I've seen on the market. I couldn't be happier. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, the quality of all products from China has deteriorated lately. Not that the quality has ever been this fantastic, but it seems like it's dropped even further in the last year. I have found that almost everything I buy in Chinaโ€ฆ
