Description of πŸ”’ WARN 28761 Premium Manual Locking Hub: Zinc Aluminum Alloy Dial, Dual Seals, 26 Splines, Chrome - 1 Pair

All metal construction and ZA alloy dial ensure years of reliable functioning. Wave spring technology increases reliability over standard coil springs. This dial requires a full 9/10ths of a turn to ensure positive engagement of the inner drive gear to the clutch ring. To make sure they stay engaged, WARN premium hubs use a thick internal wave spring and heavy dial detents. Limited lifetime warranty.

Excellent fit and finish

Perfect match for my 1992 4Runner. I think I got almost 1 mpg in city driving! Not everything works forward when I don't need it. I like to "lock" my knots.

Pros
  • Solid build
Cons
  • Nothing

Smart replacement.

I replaced the worn out Aisin hubs on my 1989 Toyota 4x4 with these WARN premium hubs which are easy to install and a comparable replacement. They're longer, heavier, and a lot cheaper, but internally they don't seem any better than the Aisin.

Pros
  • High test scores for support and durability
Cons
  • Some issues

1990's 4runner in trailer Accessory

They go well with my 90's 4runner. Conveniently, the CV front axles can be disabled should you break one or something, and on top of that they can be disabled when not in use to save parts and improve fuel economy. If I could go back I would probably go with aisin hubs instead, they seem easier to install. Rotating it a full 180 degrees is a bit of a hassle, and reaching for the handle isn't as easy as one would like. But these are good jacks that make the job easier.

Pros
  • Great on me

Worth the investment.

When these bushings arrived I was very impressed with the quality of this product. They were larger and heavier than my stock Toyota bushings. O-rings on all sides and very easy to assemble. It took less than an hour and I'm not a mechanic. The lock wheel turns very smoothly and has a very nice golden chrome ring. This kit does not include new studs or nuts (wheel hub) but does include flat washers and lock washers. I'm more than happy with it. They are larger than stock and stick out further…

Quality hand cuffs

Quality hand cuffs for my 95 4runner with ADD. Installation is very easy and requires no additional parts. Screw the studs directly onto the studs using the nuts and washers provided. Has an almost full turn to lock or unlock settings. When these hubs are unlocked, the front wheels are free to spin without the CV axle moving when 4x4 is not needed. When locked they work like the factory models and can be switched from car to 2x2 or 4x4 mode in an instant. A good investment to reduce wear and…

No conversion kit required for Toyota 2nd generation with ADD hubs.

Update: After driving and looking at them a bit I'm a bit disappointed with the quality of the silver metal on the lid assembly. Seems really cheap. Like many people, I first looked for Aisin jacks but didn't have time to wait for them. If they hold up well, but if not, I'll definitely look into Aisin bushings. β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” β€”β€”β€”Fit these hubs to a 1994 Toyota 4Runner with ADD hubs. Note that the spindle conversion kit was NOT required. The sockets appear to be good, but the quality is definitely a…

Easy installation, robust design.

So far so good but so far I've only installed them and checked that they close properly. These Warn hubs are guaranteed for life and were slightly smaller than the factory Aisin replacements for my 86 4runner. They also appear to have a better designed spring than the Aisin, but only time will tell if it's actually better. They are very easy to screw on, just peel off the old one and attach the new one. Nothing complicated. They even eliminate the dreaded cone washers that works hubs need to…

'87 4WD Toyota Vanwagon

These hubs are GREAT! I bought these to replace the original auto-lock hubs on my '87 Toyota Vanwagon which were popping and rattling every time I engaged 4WD. I did a little research and found that these are the same pickup and 4Runner hubs from the same era. (Revain doesn't acknowledge the existence of 4x4 vans.) The worst part of the setup is the three distances of automation. After removing the passenger side I saw where the noise was coming from. The hub brake drum was broken and parts of…
