This is a good suggestion for a water softening medium. Easy charging. It would be a lot more expensive to use the Flourish brand on a 75 gallon tank.

I am very happy with the size of this emollient. It's big enough for my 55 gallon tank and goes soft quickly. Easy to recharge after use. Reasonable price, fast service.

Haven't used it yet but there should be instructions for use, let's see what happens once I put it in the filter as soon as it works, I'll give more stars.

Arrived quickly, hence 2 stars. Also, there were no instructions included with the kit, so I wasn't sure how to use it. There are no instructions on the website either. So I put it in a filter bag and added it to my filter. I really hope this doesn't damage my tank.

I use it in a pre-filter when doing water changes in my tanks along with activated carbon. It did a good job of reducing water hardness for my fish. :) Now I no longer get limescale on the tank. I live in western Ohio so the water doesn't get any harder than here. To charge, I use softening salt water in a Tupperware container, which I keep in the fridge for a week.

I have very hard water; My test kit took 30 drops to change the color of the water in the test tube. SEA WATER ONLY NEED 12 drops. Other pillow cushions failed even after 12 pillows (with multiple recharges). I could only reduce the softness of the water to 20 drops. I have an FX-5 external filter and about a week ago hung 2 packs on the way back from the filter. My softness level has dropped to 1 drop! This stuff is GREAT! Oh yeah; They now contain a media pack and instructions.

So I put the water softener in a zero effect canister filter, wanted to write a terrible review and then decided to take the softener and put it in an external replacement filter hanger since my 80 gallon tank won. Do not allow the use of this filter. I had to make some adjustments to make it fit but my GH was off the charts, after 12 hours my GH was down to -3! I'm so crazy! I have used API water softening pads but they are not as effective. So yes this product works 100% but not in a canister
