Just what I need for outdoor use under my patio. I am connecting Christmas decorations and they will be in humid conditions so this is perfect. Never hold a metal object or insert it into an outlet as shown in the illustration. It would be unwise. I'm just saying.

This power strip will NOT accept standard US polarized plugs. This is the guy with the big pin on the neutral side of the connector. The hole for the extension socket is correct, but the socket itself is too small. This is potentially unsafe, especially if one wants to "cheat" the system and modify the connector in some way to fit. The plugs are polarized for some reason and there is no excuse for this device not being properly designed for the purpose.

I bought this product a month ago and for many reasons I only came across its use today. To my surprise, a large gap does not allow plugs to be inserted. You can see how I tried using a fork with a lot of compression and the end result was that the larger (positive) pin in the body was broken instead of being seated. This is a complete disappointment. We have an external plug at the back of the house which is under the porch so it is difficult and inconvenient to use. This is also a porch with exposed timber decking so is somewhat exposed to the elements and will be wet or at least at times damp. Its length is enough to reach the edge of the porch steps, so we can easily connect a lawnmower or any other electrical device that we want to use on the patio. This power strip/surge protector is a VERY good and reliable piece of equipment for all your outdoor needs (I used it as a Christmas decoration). It seems to be holding up really well to the harsh Wisconsin weather and snow (which we've had frequently over the past month and a half).
