Best Slow Feed Hay Nets

I have purchased several Slow Feed hay nets over the years. They seem to hold up the best despite daily use. The holes are about 1 inch and the perfect size for my greedy boys. I estimate I can fit about 20lbs of hay in each net (I use large 600lb hay rolls) tightly packed and 2 nets. Keeps my 2 boys happy and busy throughout the day. Will definitely buy these nets again just to have 2 spares on hand.

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • So far so good

Spacious but not too big. Hard enough.

Nice bags that can easily hold 3 flakes of hay. I feed my horses twice a day. I could fit more if I really wanted to (but my horses are pretty fat lol). The holes are a good size so as not to upset the horses too much but still requires some work to get the hay out to keep them occupied longer. These pouches hold up well enough even for my half-beaver horse who thinks he has to chew everything. Small tears can be easily patched with thread for extra mileage if needed.

This one has lasted longer than others I've bought but. . .

I ordered the purple one. It wasn't pretty, but it seemed to be holding up very well - no rips, no holes, no scuffs. So I ordered a new one in black (which is the color I thought would be the first). That helped for a while but now it has 3 gaping holes. The only way I've found to fix it is to use small carabiners to reattach the weave "diamonds". I would still order this product again as it really does last longer and doesn't wear out like the cheaper ones. And I absolutely need a slow feeder…

Pros
  • Easy-to-read control panel

  • There are more interesting options.

Expected a better product from Weaver

The hay net itself works well, does what it's supposed to and reduces hay consumption. However, the rope she is tied with is not the same material as the net, it is much thicker, stiffer and more slippery nylon - making the net difficult to tie and hold in place. The first few times I tied the horse up and untied it within an hour. I ended up replacing the rope with an old regular hay net, made from the same material as the net - I don't know why it doesn't work that way. A bit annoying is that

Pros
  • Easy to install
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Great for normal horses; not very suitable for restless eaters

This is a good quality hay net, especially for the price. It was easy to load the hay and hang the net on the stall poles. The rope looks like it is made of synthetic material but is of good quality. It seems durable, but I haven't had a chance to personally test its durability because my horse absolutely hates this hay net. I bought him hoping it would keep him calm and busy at tournaments. Unfortunately, this had the opposite effect. This is a true "slow feeder" with orifices ranging from…

Please rate the review if it was helpful, thanks

I wanted to give a good rating and review after using it for a week but the plastic nylon mesh is too stiff and after that not once bendable multiple uses. I'm sure other hobbyists or farmers like me will see what I mean. If the nylon is too stiff it will be almost impossible to open the web feeder wide enough to feed any amount of hay. Because the bag is so stiff it doesn't stay open and opens skewedly, forcing you to break the hay into smaller handfuls rather than nice 1/5-1/4 bales. A 1…
