Love this filter. You may need to get creative if you don't use a hook that attaches to the top edge of the tank. Or if you do not place the filter directly on the ground because this filter will be too heavy for the suction cups, either place it on a small object so that the top of this filter is above the water level, or adjust the water level so that it stays below the top of this filter to properly use this filter. At the end of November I received another aquarium filter (Tetra Whisper Filter) because the other one was difficult to keep clean. This one did a great job of keeping my daughter's betta tank clean. This is by far the worst product I have ever bought. I ignored recent reviews that it kills fish because we had a 1 year old large glowfish and thought it was fine.
