Great quality from Whiteside. I find the lower bearing easier to control than the upper bearing. The reason for this is that if the router tips over due to user error and half of the base is hanging in empty space, the bottom bearing will cause the entire router to tip *away* from the work. The exact opposite happens with the upper bearing, where any inclination will cause the blade to cut into your work. For better upper bearing control, a base extension is best.

I have made Adirondack chairs with this piece. Sounds good, but I killed him in two days. The bearing seized up after a few hours (fortunately I still have spares). But when I ran it through 1.5" old pine (so hardwood, not the cork you get in orange and blue shops), it burned out in two sessions, even when running at the lowest speed on my router.
