This big bit is a big help!

This piece was a huge help in the renovation of a 1956 bathroom that still had all the original pink tiles (in far from fantastic condition) over the plaster and laths! I used a Bauer hammer to completely remove the tiles from the wall, counter and floor. As a first step in dismantling and removing the built-in washbasin, the counter top was removed. On the walls and floor the bit damaged the sub material a bit so after removing the tiles I was able to plaster the walls (now painted and tiled)…

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Unbelievable price

Highly recommended. I have a "dust cap " from an old .

Use a drill to remove approximately 500 square feet of tiles and thin layers. The drill showed no signs of wear after the work was completed. Used with Chicago Electric 1-1/8" 10Amp Heavy Duty SDS Variable Speed Hammer Drill. Highly recommended. I made a "dust cap" out of an old plastic container by punching a hole twice the width of the tile and a hole cut for a shop vacuum. This setup contained flying pieces of tile and minimized the amount of fine dust. The trick is to find the right angle…

Works great until it doesn't work anymore.

Works very well when removing thin layers. I would give 5 stars for that. It really helps if you flip the beat from time to time, as some other reviewers have pointed out. However, I bought two. On the second day of use the bit broke at the bottom of the SDS groove causing my bit to break and part of the shank stuck in the body of the hammer drill which I still couldn't get out. I thought maybe a worker used it or a bad hammer drill or something. On the third day that the second drill was used,

Pros
  • Works great for me
Cons
  • No instructions
