Very easy to assemble

Excellent Yamaha suspension thread repair kit. This was my first experience with Helicoil. Super easy to do. This kit contains everything you need to install new threads. The only thing I would recommend is putting some red thread fixer on the outside of the new threads to permanently attach them to the walls. Many YouTube videos explain this process.

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • Not bad

Did what it was supposed to do, no catastrophic problems

The only problem I had was the drill that came with the kit, you need a drill with a half inch chuck, your normal household drill only has a 3/8 chuck so I had to either buy a drill bit with a half inch chuck or buy a proper reduced shank drill bit that fits a 3/8 chuck. Otherwise there were no problems with the set.

Pros
  • Easy install
Cons
  • No instructions

Great for my low torque, non-critical use

I had to re-bolt the mirror bracket on my BMW bike to adapt the stock 10x1.25 threaded folding mirror to my other bikes. OEM BMW had a 10x1.5 pitch. This set of threads had everything needed to get the job done and cost less than other systems. If I were fixing a critical thread I would probably use a timer or spiral coil, which worked well, but for my intended purpose this kit worked perfectly.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled

Just junk, actually under "Tools and Equipment "

Okay, I know how to install a spiral coil, but this kit was, frankly, complete junk. First, the drill bit must be solid sheet metal, as it will round off immediately when attempting to clear a damaged hole. The supplied tap then didn't seem to match the external threads of the supplied coil because after drilling a hole with another drill bit I had on hand and then tapping with the supplied tap, the supplied coils would not screw at all. I tried 4 of the coiled coils that came with it and…

Questionable quality

The kit helped restore two beveled bolt holes but not as smooth as I had hoped. like a hot knife through butter. There are no complaints. The faucet works well, there were no particular problems with it, but the second hole required more force than the first. The tap showed no signs of dulling, so I have to assume I cut into material, or maybe I didn't drill quite straight. I did, the coils leaked current and were tolerable to even start. I ended up buying another set of coils (I wanted longer…

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Poor design
