Great Charcoal for Sketching

Using this charcoal, our team found that it was easy to work with and produced great results. The thick box provides plenty of charcoal for all our arts and crafts projects. The only downside is that it can be a bit messy, but that's not a dealbreaker for us. Overall, we highly recommend this product for anyone looking for quality charcoal for their drawings.

Pros
  • Produces rich and deep tones
Cons
  • Prone to smudging and difficult to erase cleanly

Pulls well but looks thin. .

Draws well, but looks thin. At least half came in at 1/8 inch or less when I was hoping for something sturdier, about 3/16 of a thickness or thicker. However, they work very well.

Pros
  • Specially prepared for artists
Cons
  • Without instructions

Not as advertised: Drawing

The box I received had Vine charcoal sticks, not Willow! Unfortunately, I didn't open the box until the return window closed. It was on my art teacher's materials list that would eventually be used. There are rough spots on the vine that dig into the pastel paper. It doesn't go smoothly.

Pros
  • The wood used for our willow charcoal is burned properly to produce a smooth line of constant intensity
Cons
  • not reliable
