Doesn't work as promised

I have presentations every week. It worked initially, but once launched, the video became very choppy and never stabilized. I could never get the audio to work.

Pros
  • Works intuitively with Windows and Mac computers
Cons
  • will write later

Ease of use with a wide range of applications

can project to your big screen TV from anywhere within the WIFI range of the StarTech device. Setting does not exist. You just plug it in and turn it on. My friends and I were able to share our screens immediately after installing the software. This is a very good product. A few caveats. It works with PC and Mac but not with i devices. You must also have administrator rights. So if you use a government computer, you can't use this cool system.

Pros
  • Compatible with Wi-Fi enabled computers such as Ultrabooks and MacBooks, as well as HDMI and VGA displays such as TVs and projectors
Cons
  • No doubt

Exceeded expectations

Bought this for my wife to use in class. We had some concerns based on several reviews. No, the software isn't fantastic, but it does exactly what we need it for. In fact, we were concerned that it would work well with the new Surface Book 3 due to the extreme resolution on the laptops, which are notorious for not running some apps. But the system automatically adjusts to whatever resolution the projector needs, and it's very sharp compared to the wired VGA she had to use while strapped to herโ€ฆ

This product is a difficult sell - difficult to determine from the description alone its true purpose. What it does in the real world is a smart combination of a proprietary screen-sharing platform (Realtek AirFun) and good old Miracast (or Wi-Fi if you prefer). These two technologies help do two things: a setup where laptops (or other devices) can share their screen individually, with a presenter controlling the display. The downside of this technology is that each user has to install the app,

Best Disappointment in Video Converters

I love the idea of screen sharing over Wi-Fi and it's a good first step, but I have serious criticism of this product . From the factory, this device acts as its own hotspot. The instructions instruct the user to download the client for Windows or Mac (I downloaded both on my two tested devices). I followed the instructions to connect the Mac using the default hotspot name shown on the screen I connected via HDMI. The app said I needed to connect to the WiFi network hosted on the device (I wasโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Make sure your HDMI or VGA display supports wireless video
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors
