GREAT AFTERMARKET FILTER - Used on 2017 Mazda CX-5 GT

Wix has always been famous for making quality filters. I have used this model filter on my 2017 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring oil change 6500 miles since the first oil change. I also used full synthetic oil at every oil change. On October 28, 2019 I have 57,000 miles. I haven't had any leaks and the dipstick reads right in the middle of high and low. I highly recommend this filter.

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • Almost Everything Is Fine

With the disappearance of the vaunted Japanese OEM Mazda Tokyo Roki PE-01-14-302A, I was in search of one SkyActiv-specific cross-reference German production Mann Hummel W6018. As it turns out, this German oil filter model is just as rare (more common in Europe) if not unavailable as Tokyo Roki even here in the US. Luckily, Wix (now owned by Mann Hummel, since 2016) released this SkyActiv with spec 57002 especially for us owners of the latest Mazda. I have used Mann Hummel (formerly Audi/VW)…

Pros
  • Stable test results
Cons
  • A newer model could have been chosen

Quality control and filter testing

The filter itself had a small dent on the side and debris on the end cap and thread. Also the glue used on the relief valve is splattered all over the place which isn't necessarily a problem but does indicate poor workmanship. Foreign objects were also found there. It looked like some kind of black grid. Didn't bother to take it off to have a closer look because I have to send it back for a refund. I've never had any issues with previous Wix products. Update: Printing failed on this Wix filter.

Pros
  • Elegant design
Cons
  • Long delivery time
