I've only ever used a 3/8" drill bit and it cuts very well. Cutting a groove in a hard maple cutting board resulted in a nice clean cut. He moved, he didn't burn at all. For the price - so. Good quality. Very satisfied.

They are suitable for soft wood, but quickly started to burn when sawing oak and maple. I think you get what you pay for. So if you use woods like pine, poplar or cedar you will be happy.

I would have preferred these bits with 1/2" shanks but they cut smoothly and create very precise smooth grooves and grooves.
