Great Polyhammer! fits hammers

Great hammer at a great price. Being new to leatherworking I didn't want to spend thousands on a hobby I wasn't sure I would enjoy. I have small hands so I went the small size and just love it. It has weight and weight. The polyethylene surface was perfectly smooth. The handle is firmly attached and beautifully finished. I have to admit, when I use it, I do catch a glimpse of the Vulcan in the forge: I would highly recommend this plastic hammer to any of my fellow leather novices who want to…

Pros
  • New handy hammer for leather carving
Cons
  • Doubtful purchase for the elderly

Extremely fast shipping, very good quality

The tool is the ideal weight and dimensions for leatherworking and is strong enough for punching holes in thick leather and assembling hardware. Mine has already been heavily used and there are almost no marks left on the impact side. The comfortable grip allows you to change the position of your hand for heavy hitting and delicate work. Update: It's still going strong and is my favorite hammer for all leather goods. I use a nylon/rubber mallet for any really tough work, but this hammer does…

Pros
  • Leathercraft tool for printing various figures on leather goods
Cons
  • Minor issues

Great tool in hammers

I use a rawhide hammer for my leatherworking hobby. It was great, it did the job, but sometimes it hurt if you didn't hit it on the forehead. I had my doubts about this tool as it had an odd shape (to me at least) but when it arrived I saw how useful this shape could be. First, it's VERY heavy, so when you hit the chisel it hits straight down, not in an arc like a hammer. Really the only complaint I have is the construction as the screw holding it together often comes loose making me nervous…

Pros
  • Suitable for both professionals and hobbyists
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled

Parts fall off: Hand tool

I think it's a regular hammer. I've been using it almost every day since I bought it for the last 2 years. My biggest issue is that the parts unscrew fairly easily. After a while this can be very disappointing. As you can see from my photos I put rubber washers on it and it only helped a little. I have to come up with a new solution. maybe some strong glue. If you buy it for light tools you will love this hammer. If you plan to use it with a punch or latch installer, you may run into issues, so

Pros
  • Leather tool punch for printing various figures on leather crafts
Cons
  • No power

Great alternative to more expensive hammers

I purchased a wooden handled version of this item for use with embossed leather goods. I'm relatively new to leatherworking and didn't want to spend more than $60 to purchase some of the more "professional" sledgehammers I've seen on both leather sites and Revain (like Al Stallman's tools). This tool seemed like a good starting point without having to spend a lot of money. Before ordering I will be honest and say that I was a little hesitant as to what to expect in terms of quality. I was…

Pros
  • Light and comfortable wooden handle makes leather carving easier

  • Not as thick as other picks
