Great piece, maybe not what I ordered?

These beats are amazing. I'm not sure I actually received the ultra smooth bit I ordered. The one I received is black like nail clipper tips. I thought ultra smooth were uncoated?

Pros
  • Patented Tri-Cut design with triple-serrated edge for fast, smooth cutting without resistance.
Cons
  • I will add later

Gentle on power tool parts and accessories

Pros.I makes a nice clean hole. Much better than the Bosch bits I usually use, they are very light and don't take much force to drill a hole. Cons About 10 minutes after using the bit for the first time, I hit a nail. The nail completely removed one of the three points on the head. So I took my sharpener and tried to sharpen it. At this point I was able to get it to cut again, but now it takes a lot of effort to drill a hole. Many days later I'm still using the bit here and there and I've…

Pros
  • Burr-free lead screw for easy starting and pulling without material build-up.
Cons
  • Obsolete

Best I've seen in over 20 years of line work.

I have been working with lines for over 20 years. I have used drills of all brands and types. I have found that the Black Widow brand has always outperformed and outlasted every other brand/type of bit. My least favorite was Milwaukee, Black Widow was my favorite and Wood Owl was somewhere in between. Irvine is ok but not the most reliable. However, this three-pronged wooden owl bite is impressive. This is definitely my new favorite. I can get about 4/5 of the way through a Class 3 Milestone 40

Pros
  • Lighter carbon steel construction than standard bits for safety and reduced fatigue without sacrificing strength.
Cons
  • Available in black only.
