They looked sturdy and we work with those foam brushes a lot - they don't work at all. Squeeze the ends of the foam brush until they release from the handle. Others we have used have the foam wrapped around a thin sheet of plastic to which it is glued. You're on a small hard pin set into a wooden handle - when you want to apply paint or whatever - just pressure makes it click. The sturdy pen looked like a good product - too bad it has a bad usage issue.

You can't afford not to have it, especially at this price. I hate cleaning oil based brushes. They're not really made for oil-based brushes, but you can get away with a small project even though they're oil-based. It's very convenient to be able to take a cheap foam brush and just throw it away. Of course, this will not replace good brushes for all applications, but for the right one they are sent down from God.

I thought all foam brushes were the same. Not so with this product; the foam is not so dense and very porous; so distribution as soon as possible. I used it to apply oil stains to wood, so after erasing the first two I had to lighten the strokes drastically (the plastic frame is so close to the foam at the tip that you don't have much of a choice anyway). I would not recommend applying a thicker material like paint or applying it to rough surfaces. I thought I had made a good purchase but first
