Good for rust prevention

They are square enough for my purposes (woodworking and scale models). They look good (to me) and feel solid. My only complaints: 1. They were filled with oil upon arrival. While this is good for rust prevention, I think they could greatly reduce it. I measured them with calipers. Ironically, the sizes used do not correspond to a straight decimal inch, architectural fraction, decimal measure, or fractional measure. See for example the attached least squares drawing. I assume this is due to theโ€ฆ

Save money and get a better set

The squares were poorly packaged, fell out of the bubble wrap and I think got a little wrinkled in transit. The blade of the 100mm square flexes 3 full mm sideways from edge to edge, and the beam itself is diamond shaped at 30 arc minutes (I think the square they used to calibrate their machines was wrong too!). The 100mm and 150mm square blades are noticeably off-centre. There is also the problem of beam thickness. They were *not* as thick as advertised. I was so disappointed in the first twoโ€ฆ

Accurate but rusty

I've had the product for about 2 months. I removed the grease from the place upon receipt. I measured them at 1-2-3 blocks and found them very true. I didn't have the offset blades that other reviewers have noted. I'm generally very happy with their accuracy, especially considering the price. Problem is I pulled a 6 inch square out of the box yesterday and it was already rusting. The squares have been well cared for and stored properly, but presumably they need to be coated with a protectiveโ€ฆ

A 90 degree square - imagine!

I am one of those consumers who want to be informed. I prefer to buy things from the US when I can - it gets harder each time. This article has some mixed reviews, with some saying the squares aren't exactly square -- and if they are, there's no point in having them. However as the choice of lanes was limited I decided to take a chance as you can always return it to Revain if it doesn't fit. You are ready! I'm a machinist, but it's a hobby, not a job. And there is a mechanical magazine, theyโ€ฆ

Decent but not accurate enough for me

I think they are worth the price. The tolerances aren't tight enough for my needs so I sent them back. Perhaps it was unrealistic for me to expect near perfection from such a cheap product. If you want some decent places to shop they might be good. But I know I'll always hesitate to use them when it really matters. On arrival each piece is lightly oiled, in its own sealed plastic bag, in its own disposable carton. Without lining. All four small boxes were inside the product's outer box (not the

Three out of four proved correct

Pleasantly surprised by this set of machine angles. They are very well packed and sealed in plastic bags. The kit does not come with a case, but at this price you can complain. As others have mentioned there is a lot of oil on it but I see no reason to complain about something that protects tools and wipes off easily with a rag. I promise the worst defense options will be used. I bought a set of chisels from Revain that came with a paint protector that was almost impossible to remove even withโ€ฆ

Pros
  • All the same width and thickness of beam and blade
Cons
  • Sparse instructions

EDIT: Downgraded from 3 stars to 1 star and eventually returned. At first I thought they were suitable for woodworking. True, they are decently square. However, the fact that the blades are inserted into the body at such an angle results in the blade not lying flat on the workpiece when the body is registered relative to the side (imagine that "a punch along a line perpendicular to the side of the workpiece is a piece"). On each square, the blade is either completely clear of the work piece, or
