Description of πŸ”ͺ Enhance Precision Sharpening with Work Sharp East and West Guides Upgrade Kit, Multicolor!

The E5 Upgrade Kit adds versatility with 15Β° and 20Β° sharpening guides, and specialty sharpening belts optimized to create traditional East and West edge profiles. The East/West sharpening guides easily snap into place of the standard guides, while the included storage tray keeps your other guides organized. The E5 Upgrade Kit includes 4 types of belts: one Blue ZA Coarse belt, two Red P120 Medium belts, one Grey X35 Fine belt, and one White X4 Extra-Fine belt. Manufactured by Norton Abrasives, the NORaX brand sharpening belts are the same belts professional knife makers and sharpening services use to create factory-fresh cutting edges. The belts are gentle on knives while creating an amazingly sharp edge – even on today's most advance cutlery steels. Abrasives are designed to sharpen without removing excessive material, protecting the value of your kitchen knives. The belts are engineered to expose fresh abrasive as they're used, producing consistent sharpening results throughout the life of the belt.

Well done. Easy to use, great results

A very easy to use sharpener that restores the blade to its original sharpness. I've used this tool to sharpen both Shun and Chicago cutlery knives and have had great results with both.

Pros
  • Feels good
Cons
  • For the elderly

Worksharp Culinary E5

I used to hand sharpen my Shun knives with waterstones. It usually took me about 15 minutes on average to make one knife. With the Culinary E5 it takes about 3 minutes with these 3 different grain belts. Not only is it significantly faster, but it also offers a very good edge. Highly recommended.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Angry

Now my knives are not sharp!

Now my knives aren't sharp anymore! When I first bought the F5 to sharpen my knives I was fine with the red straps and standard guides but seemed to be missing something. Then I discovered that there is a Plus pack of Eastern and Western guides. Well I needed a western guide because I have western knives. Now these things are so hot I'm scared to touch them lol

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Seniors

Critical accessory for me

These guides work VERY well for getting a perfect/constant edge angle. The straps work surprisingly well. Please note that the first sharpening can take some time. Changing the cutting edge profile takes a few extra passes with thick grit bands, but once they're there the knife becomes razor sharp again very quickly. I think the extra guides are absolutely necessary to get the most out of this sharpener.

Pros
  • Done
Cons
  • Weak set

This is what you need if you have Asian knives!

I reviewed the E5 earlier. I also buy this set as I have Asian knives with a steeper angle. I like the way they cut. Turning off the guide is easy and the sharpening process is the same as my regular knives. I really like being able to care for Asian blades the way they were made. It's nice to be able to sharpen them yourself instead of having to send them to the factory. This is a worthwhile purchase if you have Asian knives.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Don't know
