Adds a level of performance that may be ABSOLUTELY optional

Leather Grinding Wheels work very well, but I'm not sure if they're strictly necessary to achieve razor sharpness. 6000 grit grinding wheels offer such a smooth finish that it's nice to have the honing option, but it can be skipped without affecting the end result.

Pros
  • Sharpening Stones
Cons
  • Some bugs

Questionable Value: Power & Hand Tools

I love my Work Sharp 3000 and use it with all my blades and tools. I'm not sure it's that hard to create a finer grit, but for two pieces of sandpaper they cost quite a bit. Smaller grains also tear more easily, catching, tearing and destroying their usefulness. If they doubled the amount included I would give it a five star rating, but these days value counts.

Pros
  • Hand Tools
Cons
  • Can't remember

Good Quality Abrasives

I have recently added honing abrasives to my Work Sharp 3000 system. I also have diamond wheels and all the accessories for the 3000 except for the knife sharpening case. I decided to use a separate knife sharpener from the cutting job. If you use good technique, you can get a clean, polished finish with diamond blades. I also use diamond stones and fine sandpaper up to 6000 grit depending on what tool I'm trying to sharpen. The honing discs along with the jigs available for the 3000 work well…

Pros
  • Power & Hand Tools
Cons
  • Damaged
