This is a very poorly made item and we couldn't even put all the pieces together, some of the holes didn't even match. I'm very hesitant to even use this - I would have sent it back but unfortunately we missed the return deadline by being out of town. I really don't know how this product got so many good reviews.

Bought this roof rack to fit a spare tire on my Jeep XJ. I was disappointed to learn that I have to buy 2 more standard jeep crossbars before I can install a roof rack to get a total of 4 crossbars as they tell you not to place the crossbars more than 15" apart , so for a 64 inch wheel I need at least 4 cross braces! Disappointed to see how FLAMMABLE the metal on the roof rack is! I'm pretty sure I need to put a piece of plywood under the spare tire so I don't break this flimsy thing!

We bought this basket because we had very little cargo space in our minivan with 4 children including 16 month old twins in monster car seats. It wasn't difficult to assemble, but it took more than two hands. The instructions, while not particularly detailed, are sufficient to get the job done. This is exactly what I (you) was looking for. Looks like a solid cargo basket except for the space between the metal extension and the front and rear sections. I wouldn't put any weight directly on the gap. The instructions are very basic, but I used my own allen wrench as it came with a cheap allen wrench that stripped the first screw. We are so glad we chose this roof rack. FYI: This requires crossbars, which I wasn't aware of when I bought it. But! It's a lot bigger than we expected and made our move out of state with our last few belongings that much easier. We put in a large 2" x 4" crate, two standard fridges, and a few other smaller crates and bags, plus a 42" folded dog crate.
