XPEL Extra Wide Door Guard Review

I wasn't impressed with the performance of this door edge protector. As you can see, I let the door touch the outside wall of my house and see what happens to the tape after it hits. Give it the protection of the painted door edge, but see what happens to the tape. I wouldn't buy this. I'll just stick with the clear rubber door moldings because it looks awful.

Works! A few weeks after installation, the wind lifted the door and slammed it against the paddock in the parking lot. He took all the damage - at first glance (due to the deformation of the protection) I was sure that the edge of the door was damaged, but I was pleasantly surprised when I took it off, everything was fine! It was easy to install but as others have said stretch it slightly during installation for a better fit. Barely noticeable unless you're looking for it up close.

I used to buy this product directly from Xpel for my car and it was great. I bought a reel here for my wife's car and this reel was not of the right quality. Find installation video on YouTube and follow the instructions = good result. I just finished all 4 doors on my new car and they are almost invisible on the black paint. I installed it myself and had no problem with the tape sticking to the door. I applied a small amount of Griot's Garage Paint Prep after cleaning the doors and before applying the film. Watch their videos to get an idea and don't rip off the entire backing at once. Peel off the paper as you go down so it doesn't stick to itself or anything else. edge. Material is similar to the factory door protector on my Acura. Installing the door edge film is very easy, you can even check the manufacturer's website for installation instructions. This edge protector is a fairly thick transparent tape that sticks to the edge of your door to protect it from damage.
