Suitable for this purpose and cats appreciate the deeper box. They sit on their side to poop. What makes them happy usually makes me happy too. BUT, be careful - it becomes much more difficult for ALTE to throw garbage from it. It's getting too hard.

I have an adult cat that didn't get into my previous litter box. This caused some cleanup that became tedious. That solved the problem! It's easy to use and cleans (when needed) from the outside with a garden hose. I run the trash through a self-contained screen and boom, I'm done.

I never thought the tray would be stainless steel. It has amazing sides that are high enough so the litter won't spill, scratch or trap odors and it's very easy to clean. For a few days we left the new metal pan and the old plastic pan and our cats only used the new one. I'm about to buy a second one.

It may seem strange, but you have a small cat that crouches to pee and gets up early. I used to have a 6 inch high thick plastic basket and he could urinate straight out of the box. Disappointing! I needed something higher and found this - a real find! A little pricey but does the job. - it's incredible! Will stand up to the heat wave too and seems to hold the smell which is another plus. We returned the 14" version and ordered the 16" version which fits better. The description says 14 inches and our bathtub (where we put the tray) has a flat bottom of less than 16 inches, so we ordered 14 inches, but the base is actually only about 10.5 inches wide! 14 inches are TOP sizes (actually up to 14). It's definitely more expensive than the plastic ones, but it will last a cat's life and longer. The plastic ones picked up scratches and odors very easily and were impossible to clean. You should probably replace them once a year. If so, this box would pay for itself in 6 years. Higher sides mean you can put in more litter to prevent urine from pooling on the floor. Over time, a freshly washed, sanitized plastic litter box will still smell. Stainless steel shouldn't absorb odors and these trays appear to be more durable.
