Hex nut tightens from the side with a wrench, enabling use when there is limited space above the nut. Grade 8 steel is stronger than grade 5 steel and often used in applications where strength is the primary consideration. Zinc yellow-chromate plating offers good corrosion resistance. Meets ASME B18.2.2 specifications.

The quality is good but the yellow chromate will wear down the nuts after multiple uses.

Appears to be high quality foreign nuts - well formed threads etc. I restore old British cars and one thing you always need is 5/16-24 nuts. shouldn't be a problem: I've used two of these and the usual method to remove a whole bunch of studs from a Jag cylinder head - so much fiddling and tightening/loosening. Well when I was done the chromate yellow was gone. They just look like regular zinc plated nuts. I don't know if this is normal for yellow chromated hardware as I don't usually tighten or
