As a beginner quilt I didn't want to spend like $100 on an official Bernina walking foot so I tried this one which was a lot cheaper. That's great! I've made 2 blankets so far and it works really really well. I can't even imagine what could be better at $100. It took a bit of searching on youtube to figure out how to install it - instructions in the package would be nice. Just remember to tighten the screw on the needle clamp (screwdriver included) after removing it to install the small fork on

The quality of this foot is pretty good, it works almost perfectly on my Bernina 830 plate. In any case, this is something you never do when sewing (I do this when picking up bobbin thread, so I had to get into the habit of lowering the presser foot to pick up thread). So actually no problem! It seems to work quite well for straight and zigzag stitches as well as decorative stitches. So happy with the purchase! However, it doesn't fit my record of 730. Update: I was able to get this foot to work on my 730 Record but without the twin needle. I was able to sew with a straight stitch and eventually learned to sew with a zigzag, but so far no luck with a twin needle. I've also had the same experience as previous reviewers of my needle hitting the sole when the presser foot is up, so pulling up the bobbin thread has to be done with the presser foot down.
