Works great - kayaking

I was having trouble finding a replacement for my kayak. I found this one and tried it. Nothing serious or complicated. Just fit it right, added silicone sealant and screwed. Tested for waterproofness. It's been over a year now and it's still working as it should.

Suitable for kayak hardware

Easy to install. Drill 3 holes: 15/16 or 1" for the body and 1/8 for the screws (I have a kayak that is at least 1/8 thick so rivets are not needed). Another reviewer noted that the hose was long enough to protrude into the kayak and prevent it from completely deflating, so I cut off about 1/8 inch which seems perfect.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Old

My Old Town Vapor 10 has finally run out!

This drain plug kit is a welcome addition to my Old Town Vapor 10 kayak. Even after rinsing, a significant amount of sand and dirt remained, which had to be removed manually. I have cleaned my kayak 3 times since installing this drain and am very happy with it.

Perfect for my kayak lock

Easy to install, I used a dremmel but it would be a much quicker process with a drill but still very easy and straightforward. I put a drain plug in each cab to secure my kayaks to a tree, sign, fence post or whatever so nobody steals them while unloading a pickup truck. Also a great thing when not in use.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Good but not great

It works great - one small suggestion

I installed these on our kayaks so we could run Master Lock Python through them and lock them when traveling. They are of good quality. I used rivets and they look like they came in a kayak. I have a small suggestion: it would be nice if there were holes in the foam gasket. Drill grabbed one and wrecked it. Luckily I ordered the packages so I could have a backup. If you're looking for a way to lock your kayaks, these and Master Lock Python are a great setup.

Pros
  • Excellent design

  • Some flaws

Works perfectly. on Kayak Hardware

When installing on a fiberglass kayak, you must use rivets, not screws. You will need a rivet gun for this. If you have this and some clear silicone putty or glue these plugs can fit perfectly. Assembly order is important. First remove the screw cap from the larger diamond block. Next, drill a large center hole for the plug (on top of the pointed end of the kayak) and make sure the device is secure. Then push the device into this hole and drill two smaller holes for the rivets on each sideโ€ฆ

Great value kayaking gear

This item is as described. I installed it on my two sons Old Town Heron XT at the very top of the nose tip in the same place as the factory plug on my Old Town Loon 126. As you can see from the photo, there was just enough space for the installation. . I used a 7/8" hole saw for the main mortise in the Yak, it was too small so I just filed the edges for a tight fit. I also used the included rivets which worked pretty well. There should be some weak ones There are plug retainers which I thinkโ€ฆ

I had to work hard to be successful.

I bought these to replace the horrible drain plugs on my Club Clean golf club and golf ball puck because the plug popped out when I was cleaning the club when the club hit it. I read the reviews and thought this particular model would be ideal. Since I have two Club Clean machines, I started with my old one (just in case I screw up). Initially everything was promising, the only problem was that I had to open a hole in the club clean to get it to fit. I used the included rivets which seemed toโ€ฆ

Perfect fit, good seal. Follow my advice!

I bought these for our Old Town Vapor kayaks which didn't have a factory drain plug. They fit perfectly into the factory recessed installation position. The OD of the drain plug is actually 15/16", so use a 15/16" bit (not 1") and you'll get a very tight fit. As for the foam pad, be sure to use that; to punch holes for the rivets to go through the foam padding but it worked great. I was skeptical at first because the foam padding needs to be about 2/3 thick, but it compresses well. A bit of RTV
