It's not scary. They mostly do their job, but for me they only lasted about 3 weeks. The lamp filled up in about a week. I had to take it off almost every day to clean it. So if you need this for some light bugs here and there, I think they're perfect for you. But if you live by a lake like me or need something to deal with heavy insects then you might not be the right person.

These lights are great I don't know how bad they are for bugs. There are definitely a lot of dead bugs underneath though. I have them outside in a lamp that is open from below. These bulbs cannot get wet for obvious reasons. However, they work well as long as they are protected from moisture. Update: They have been used and the main lights went out on them.
