DO NOT BUY THIS! WILL YOUR BATTERY BE DAMAGED!

I bought this battery to keep my LiFEpo4 battery warm so it can be charged. I left it on for 2 hours and checked after the first hour. I came back to see it had melted through my battery case and damaged the battery! There was no coincidence or reason why this issue should have occurred other than a defective product. It's a premium $999 battery that I now need to replace. It's not worth it! DO NOT BUY!

Great for truck batteries

We had a VERY COLD and snowy winter in northern Minnesota. Our temperature didn't rise above "0" for 2 months with most nights being -25 to -38 and the frost dropping to -60. Wrapped this around our RAM battery on January 4th and plugged it in every day from 3pm to 3:30am. until 10 days ago. Worked like clockwork, the car started every day with no problems. We previously bought a smaller size to pack our alternator battery and that worked great too. Very happy with the purchase and recommended…

Have used temperature plugs in the past with not very good results.

As mentioned before, buy strong cable ties. It comes with zip ties (think 3 foot long wrap bread). For me, the power cord could have been a bit longer. But that's a car/battery placement issue. In most cars, the battery sits further forward. On 2 of my machines they are closer to the firewall. Does not affect its functionality. I assembled a temperature controller with a 'snap cap' set at about 38F, outlet in a 4x4 box. Have used temperature plugs in the past with not very good results.

The best investment!

I blame myself for not getting it sooner. Minus 10 degrees and my truck starts like a sunny 80 degree day. I will never be without again. One thing I did do was buy 36" zip ties to wrap around the battery cover to hold it in place instead of using the included zip tie. This prolongs battery life and makes engine starting easier, eliminates the need for an engine heater, makes installation much easier, and doesn't worry about leaks. It keeps the battery about 60 degrees above ambient…

Ideal for keeping car/truck batteries healthy during very cold times!

Pros: I live in Minnesota and have a 1998 F150 sitting outside in the cold (garage is full). This battery heater works great to keep the battery warm so the battery doesn't freeze when it gets really cold outside. The truck starts right away even if it's minus 20 degrees outside. Before I had this heater and it was very cold, I had to start the truck every day and let it run for a while even if I didn't need it. This allowed the truck to warm up and keep the battery charged so it didn't freeze.

Pros
  • Voltage: 120VAC, W: 80, Plug Type: 120V, 15A

2nd in two years and in the third year.

OCT/20 One star for one year. So this is an update of what is in the following paragraph. Last spring I carefully removed the battery heater and put it in a nice box. That winter when the teenagers had a fever I put it back on my batteries in the boat and blocked it along with the chargers. NOTHING. No warmth, no warmth, nothing. Garbage. I will also put a lightbulb in the engine bay in the future to generate a bit of heat. Thumbs up. Well I used one of these last winter and it worked fine. I…

Didn't last long (Updated 11/2018)

Purchased in November 2016 for a battery that struggled when it got cold. Worked great the first winter. He took it off, wiped it with a damp cloth, trying not to get it wet, and put it away for the summer. Newly installed for winter 2017 and it worked fine and towards the end of winter it started tripping my switch as soon as it was plugged in. I removed it and see absolutely no reason why this is happening. The unit is absolutely dry, no cuts on the cord or plug, but it still works on my…
