    It works! Electronics

Sometimes you're lucky enough to find a product that actually works as advertised. Windows 10 got corrupted after a critical update from Dell. Knowing that a clean install would erase my personal data, I wanted to back up my files and folders that I had left on my Windows desktop - silly mistake since I have partitions on my hard drive! First, I called several data mining companies and they quoted me prices equivalent to a second mortgage payment. After some research I came across the ZEXMTE…

    I restored opening hours!

I had to do a little research to make sure my SSD was M-Key compatible and to make sure the USB was right for my existing computer to boot my data. I went to 2 companies to try and fix my hard drive. Each is listed at $2000+. I broke open my Microsoft Pro Surface 4 with a hammer, screwdriver and wooden spoon, pulled out the SSD, plugged it into this adapter and got all my files back in minutes! I was so happy I almost cried.

DO NOT BUY THIS in hard drive cases

Worked for 5 minutes, overheated while formatting new M.2 NVMe over USB on this adapter. He also fried a new SSD, which I'm not happy about. Can't even send it back as ordered. Now doesn't even register when plugged in, and the light on the device barely comes on, then goes off and won't turn on again until it's unplugged from the USB port and cools down. This is the second attempt at this type of device - the first was kinked in the box due to poor delivery.

Worked as expected, good for computers and accessories

This adapter gave me access to a laptop drive that would not boot. I was able to connect it to another computer and transfer the data. I would have preferred to have a cable to connect to a USB port rather than directly which makes the job a bit fiddly but other than that it did the job perfectly.

Totally wild - computer accessories and peripherals

This thing is amazing and saves time. Worked exactly as described to initialize a new drive. It's so nice to be able to pop in an m.2, plug it into USB and go straight to disk management. The installation of the drive in a new PC is possible without any problems. As an aspiring enthusiast, this made my day. I am happy to add it to my toolbox. Definitely recommended if you are building a new computer.

Finally an easy to use M.2 NVME to USB Adapter

I've been waiting for this for a long time. Now they are available and I can say that this one does what I want. When backing up data from a broken laptop, you need to be able to eject the drive to recover the data. It does exactly that. There is no fence - what's the difference, I throw them away anyway. Good price, good value and excellent performance.

ZEXMTE M.2 NVME USB 3.1 M-Key M.2 NGFF NVME to USB 3.1 Adapter

This adapter is surprisingly simple and just as effective. After upgrading the Samsung M2 EVO 960 from 500GB to 1TB 970, I got double the storage and double the speed. This adapter turned the SSD 960 into a USB 3 plug-in drive. This made cloning easier with free AOMEI Backupper software. The whole operation went very smoothly. One piece of advice I suggest is to make sure you get the correct outlet when purchasing one of these adapters. Both EVO 960 and EVO 970 are M-Key types. That being said,

Ability to migrate 1TB HDD to 512GB SSD boot drive on Dell 5570

The HDD only had 200GB of data, so I used a 500GB SSD and was able to clone the OS and all the data using Minitool's clone feature transferred BIOS settings to the SSD, so I unplugged the HDD after cloning because the motherboard settings were loaded to the HDD when both HDD and SSD were connected. No problem, I leave the disk offline as a backup to restore when needed.
