The lid doesn't close.

I got this rice cooker about 4 months ago. I've never had the taste of rice that I've had with other foods in over 30 years. We noticed that the lid came off as you can see in the attached photos. Rice becomes dry when heated, cooking rice with a drier texture, likely due to a loose lid issue. It appears to be a defective product. I really want to return this product because it is unusable, no heating no boiling. Let me hear from the factory department about this problem.

Dried yellow rice: small appliances

So disappointed. I've only been using this rice cooker since July and the rice started turning yellow after a few hours of cooking. It started half a month ago and is progressing. This usually happens because the seal or inner ring has failed. I'm shocked it all went wrong so quickly. That's not normal. I know most people will say that you only have to cook what you eat here and now, but the number one reason you spend extra money on fashion brands is because it shouldn't be happening! I don'tโ€ฆ

Pros
  • New to my collection
Cons
  • Sad packaging

Oh my god this rice cooker is awesome. I just got it and made 6 cups (it was a huge amount of cooked rice) but it can max from 10 cups. I eat a lot of brown rice and he cooks it to perfection (soft but not mushy). Of all the rice cookers presented here, this model is the best. As another comment says, this is the only zojirushi made in Japan, so the quality is excellent. I would prefer 10 cups over 5 as you can keep leftover rice in the stovetop with the lid on for a couple of days or moreโ€ฆ

I have a lemon - nope.

Update September 2020: My baaad Until now it hasn't struck me - even the packaging says "brown rice" - that I actually cooked *half* brown rice. And guess what, the machine has a setting for that. So, in this choice, the rice came out as it should be. And the cooking time has been reduced from 90 minutes to just over 50 minutes. Lesson learned and the car gets the correct score (from 1* to 5). I've finally replaced my old National rice cooker that had served me well for about 15 years. Since Iโ€ฆ

The best rice - rice cooker

Well, I've been living in Japan for over 10 years and going there for over 30 years, so I used to eat a lot of rice. To be honest, I'm not a fan of rice at all. As a former baker I prefer bread and all along I always thought rice is rice, know what I mean? I've been using a cheap rice cooker/steamer/ since I moved back to the US about five years ago. Costco yogurt maker. He did his job and cooked the rice fairly adequately. However, it passed away last year and my wife asked me to buy a goodโ€ฆ

stick with it like. Small Appliance Good

When I buy a new kitchen appliance, I tend to do a ridiculous (unhealthy?) amount of research. I research to the point of going in circles for months trying to figure out what the absolute best topic is in the category I'm interested in right now. As a result, I can finally convince myself that I absolutely need the very best slide. ever invented, and then I have to step back, pull myself together, and start over with more realistic expectations. In the case of Zojirushi, I felt the buyer'sโ€ฆ

Great for people who like many types of rice

I only bought this old model in 2019. It seems to be very successful as it has been in production for a long time and is still listed as a "current" model on the Zojirushi website. I don't regret buying it as it's probably the best for me in the 1 liter (5.5 cup) range (same goes for 1.8 liter) but as I'll note below it does have some downsides, from which I was a little disappointed. I was intrigued by the spherical heating element, the handles on the inner bowl, the advanced keep-warmโ€ฆ
