Works great great price

I use this for my kids, two hermit crabs and the crabs seem to love it. 3 Bricks of this material last a very long time, as it expands slightly when water is added. Overall, this is a great product and a great price.

Pros
  • Finally bought it
Cons
  • So like this

This is great substrate!

My hermit crab loves this more than playing with sand. You get a lot in a brick for a 10 gallon tank and it's great for hydration as well as other things as said. It's a little messy, but that's to be expected. Definitely recommend it!

Pros
  • Regular price
Cons
  • Available in stores

Strong Odor of Oil

I wet a brick that had a distinct smell of toxic oil. I thought soaking would help. I tried the second stone, same thing. I had to throw away both parts. Trust your intuition when it doesn't feel safe. Would you take a bath if the water smelled like poison? The stuff I bought at the pet store had no smell.

Pros
  • Broad Spectrum
Cons
  • Annoying

Reptile and Amphibian Friendly Hermit Soil

Much cheaper than Eco Soil and quite frankly a great substitute. It holds moisture and my crab thrives in it. A brick requires a lot of water, but produces a lot of soil. Pretty messy, but it's dirt. The smell is somewhat chemical. It is highly recommended to use distilled water to activate the soil but spray with salt water to keep it moist.

Pros
  • Excellent Construction
Cons
  • Wrinkled Packaging
